Apeejay Svran Global School, Sector 21 D-Faridabad, decorated its campus with diyas and lanterns and celebrated Diwali with great exuberance. The school organised a host of festive activities for the students.

Many students showcased their creativity by designing beautiful rangolis using a variety of colours. They also participated in a special assembly to mark the auspicious day. The school principal, Priti Wason, began the programme with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The students chanted “Gayatri Mantra” followed by their morning prayer.

The tiny tots from Classes Nursery and KG danced to “Aayi Diwali Aayi” in bright outfits. The little ones also enthusiastically participated in a show-and-tell activity where they highlighted the significance of different Indian festivals.

The students of Class X took to the stage to talk about the varied mythological stories associated with Diwali, Dhanteras, Govardhan Pooja, and Bhai Dooj. A group of students performed a dance drama themed on Sita’s abduction that evoked the audience’s emotions. A Class IV student presented the glory of Ramayana through ‘Chaupai’ (a quatrain verse of Indian poetry) — many regions in India connect Diwali to the homecoming of Lord Ram, Sita, and Lakshman after 14 years of exile.

Meanwhile, children from Class III performed a thought-provoking ‘Nukkad Natak’ on celebrating an eco-friendly Diwali. Some of the other students from Class IV also presented a melodious song.

Adding to the merriment, Apeejay Svran Global School also announced the much-deserving winners of the Dr Stya Paul Award for Human Values. The awardees included Saanvi Sehgal of Class VII, Ananya Kaushik of Class VIII, Sanchi Bhatia of Class X, and Anjani of Class XII — each student received a cash prize.

A total of 19 students from the school also bagged the first, second, and third positions at an inter-school Shlok and Chaupai competition and were congratulated on the occasion.

Diwali celebrations at the school concluded with a formal vote of thanks by the school principal, who spread the message of the power of good over evil.

“Diwali symbolises the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.”
