Delhi University (DU) has introduced a single girl child quota for the 2024-2025 academic session across all its programmes. This initiative, announced by DU Registrar Vikas Gupta, aims to provide more opportunities for single girl children under the supernumerary seats category, enhancing inclusivity in the university’s admission processes.

The university has launched the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for undergraduate admissions, covering 69 colleges and departments with a total of 71,000 seats available. The admission process will consist of two phases: initial registration on the CSAS portal and subsequent seat allotment. A mid-entry option is available for late applicants, who can join by paying a non-refundable fee of Rs 1,000, although they cannot claim seats already allocated to on-time registrants.

The CSAS registration portal is open for about a month, and the second phase will begin after the announcement of the CUET UG results, expected on June 30. Admissions for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses at DU will continue to be based on CUET scores, a practice started last year. CUET scores will also be used for PhD admissions.

DU will start the admission process for the School of Open Learning (SOL) and the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB) from June 3. Undergraduate admissions for SOL and NCWEB will be based on Class 12 marks, while some postgraduate courses in SOL will consider CUET scores. SOL offers nine undergraduate and eight postgraduate programmes, and NCWEB provides 12 combinations of BA programmes and B.Com Pass courses across its 26 affiliated colleges.

For postgraduate, B.Tech, and the 5-year integrated law programme, the first allocation list is tentatively set for June 20. This year, DU received over 25.99 lakh applications for various programmes through CUET UG, with 7.63 lakh unique candidates. The most popular courses include B Tech, B Com Hons, B Com, and English Hons, reflecting high demand in these fields.
