‘Skills learnt at Apeejay were instrumental in cracking the job interview’ 

Aashna Singh, who recently bagged a job offer with Communique Marketing Solutions, shares how her alma mater groomed her for this journey

Aashna Singh, an alumna of Apeejay Institute of Communication (AIMC), has recently achieved the significant milestone of being placed as Executive Copywriter and Creative at Communique Marketing Solutions. This accomplishment underscores not just the institute’s dedication to fostering professional excellence in its students but also  showcases how students are achieving their dream. Talking about her learning curve,  the Apeejay alumna highlights that she has had the opportunity to work on various exciting projects, especially in the social media sector. “My learning aspirations include further honing my creative skills, expanding my knowledge in social media marketing, and continuing to work with leading brands and creators,” she emphasised. 

In this interview, Aashna shared about her placement preparation strategy and how AIMC groomed her for the same. Read edited excerpts:   

Did you always aspire to work in this sector? How did you prepare for the same?

Yes, I have always aspired to work in the field and majorly in the creative field where I would get the opportunity to work with many brands. To prepare for this, I focused on gaining a deep understanding of digital marketing trends and tools during my studies. Additionally, I actively studied how brands and different agencies work for a particular advertisement and how the copies of those ads are written and creatively the ads are made and how their social media ads are created too, which helped me build a strong foundation for my career.

What was your preparation strategy to crack placements?

My preparation strategy included a mix of thorough research, practical experience, and guidance from my professors at AIMC. I spent a significant amount of time studying company profiles and understanding the requirements of the roles I was interested in. I also practiced mock interviews and worked on refining my resume and portfolio to showcase my skills effectively.

How did professors at AIMC groom you for the placement process?

The professors at AIMC played a crucial role in grooming me for the placement process. They provided valuable insights into industry expectations and guided me through the interview preparation. They motivated me throughout the process and offered constructive feedback on my performance, which helped me improve and gain confidence.

 What skills did you develop in AIMC and how did these help you crack the job interview?

At AIMC, I developed a range of skills, including strategic planning, content creation, and campaign management. Working on various projects, such as brand case study,  helped me understand how to thoroughly analyse brands and plan comprehensive campaigns across different media. These skills were instrumental in cracking the job interview, as they demonstrated my ability to think creatively and strategically.

Where do you see yourself in the coming 5 years?

In the next five years, I see myself continuing to grow in the social media field, working with major internet brands and influencers. I aim to take on a role that involves strategic planning and campaign management, potentially as a PR person, where I can leverage my expertise to create impactful social media strategies and collaborations.
