Breathing balance into life

International Yoga Day celebrations at Apeejay School, Nerul, encouraged students to cultivate physical fitness, emotional resilience, and mindful living

Promoting the timeless values of wellness, mindfulness, and holistic living, Apeejay School, Nerul, observed International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and active student participation. The celebration brought together the school community in a meaningful initiative that highlighted the importance of yoga in nurturing physical fitness, mental resilience, and emotional well-being.

The event was designed to encourage students to embrace yoga as a way of life and understand its relevance in maintaining harmony between the mind and body. Through thoughtfully planned activities, students experienced firsthand how regular yogic practices can help reduce stress, improve concentration, and cultivate inner peace qualities that are increasingly essential in today’s fast-paced world.

The celebration featured age-appropriate activities for different classes, ensuring enthusiastic participation across the school. Students of Classes IX to XII took part in a guided yoga session that included a series of carefully demonstrated asanas, stretching exercises, and pranayam techniques. Under expert guidance, the participants practised breathing exercises and meditation that helped them relax, improve flexibility, and develop greater awareness of their physical and mental health. The session also encouraged students to adopt yoga as a daily habit for leading a balanced and disciplined lifestyle.

Meanwhile, students of Classes V to VIII expressed their understanding of yoga through an innovative yoga clay modelling activity. Using colourful clay and their creative imagination, they sculpted miniature figures depicting various yoga postures. The activity beautifully blended art with wellness education, allowing students to explore yogic concepts while enhancing their creativity, fine motor skills, and observational abilities. The impressive models displayed by the young artists reflected both their artistic talent and their appreciation of yoga as a practice that promotes overall well-being.

The celebration served as a reminder that true education extends beyond academics and encompasses the development of healthy habits, emotional balance, and self-awareness. By integrating physical activity with creative expression, the school reinforced the message that wellness is an essential foundation for personal growth and lifelong success.
