The students of the Postgraduate Department of Computer Science at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, recently demonstrated their academic prowess by actively participating in a prestigious seven-day workshop held at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. This workshop, centered around the theme “Securing the Future: AI Privacy and Zero-touch Networks,” provided a unique platform for the students to engage with cutting-edge technological advancements and explore contemporary issues in artificial intelligence (AI) and network security.

The group of seven students, comprising Taranpreet Kaur (M.Voc E-Commerce and Digital Marketing), Arshiya Jairath, Tanisha, Aarush, and Ekam (B.Voc. Data Science), had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a series of seven intensive sessions. These sessions were meticulously designed to foster a deep understanding of the critical aspects of AI privacy and the development of zero-touch networks—technologies that are increasingly becoming the backbone of modern digital infrastructure.

Throughout the workshop, the students engaged in interactive discussions with experts, delving into the complexities of AI and its implications for privacy and security. These discussions were not just theoretical but also involved hands-on projects that allowed the students to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. The participants explored the necessity of being vigilant users of AI, emphasising the importance of understanding both the benefits and potential risks associated with this rapidly evolving technology. This experience underscored the critical need for AI literacy in today’s digital age, where the dependence on such technologies is pervasive.

One of the highlights of the workshop was the opportunity for the students to work with cutting-edge technology in the Network in ICCN Lab at IIT Roorkee. This experience provided them with practical exposure to advanced network systems, further enhancing their technical skills and understanding of contemporary network security challenges. The hands-on experience in such a renowned institution was a golden opportunity for the students to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application, preparing them for future challenges in the field of computer science.

Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, expressed her pride in the students’ achievements. She congratulated them on successfully completing the workshop and encouraged them to continue participating in similar initiatives. Dr. Dhingra emphasised that such opportunities are crucial for students to discover and harness their potential, allowing them to channel their talents in productive and meaningful directions. She also lauded the efforts of Dr. Roopali Sood, Head of the Department of Computer Science, along with Dr. Jagmohan Mago and Ms. Harpreet Kaur, for their guidance and support in facilitating this remarkable opportunity for the students.

This experience at IIT Roorkee not only enriched the students’ academic journey but also positioned them at the forefront of technological innovation, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate and contribute to the ever-evolving landscape of AI and network security.
