To celebrate Mother’s Day, Apeejay School, Noida, organised various activities for students as a way of showing their love and respect for their caregivers and first mentors. Students of both the primary and secondary departments participated in these activities.

The students of classes nursery to 2 made beautiful mementos in the form of decorative cards dedicated to their mothers. Each class 2 student also spoke a few lines about their mothers, conveying their gratitude and love. Some also sang songs.

The students of classes 3, 4, and 5, made crafts on the theme—they created colourful bookmarks with quotations on them, which they then gifted to their mothers.

Students of classes 6-12, on the other hand, showcased their creative streak by designing t-shirts, mugs, mobile phone covers, etc. Some also dedicated poems or wrote letters to their mothers.

Vice-Principal Amrita Hajela and Primary incharge Smriti Samuel also reminded the students of their mother’s vital role in different stages of their lives with heartfelt speeches.

Mother’s Day is celebrated every year on May 8. It was Anna Jarvis, known to be a peace activist, who organised the first Mother’s Day service of worship and celebration at Andrews Methodist Church in 1907, in the US, which now holds the International Mother’s Day Shrine.

‘This day is very special as we honour the unparalleled, selfless love of all the mothers and their invaluable contribution to our lives’

– AK Sharma, Principal, Apeejay School, Noida
