A New Journey Begins: Apeejay School of Management hosts grand orientation for PGDM 2026–28

Industry leaders and academic mentors encourage new students to think independently and lead with purpose

Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Dwarka, marked the beginning of a new academic chapter by welcoming the 34th Batch of its PGDM programme (2026–2028) through an inspiring Orientation Programme. The event introduced the incoming students to the institution’s academic philosophy, industry-oriented learning environment, and the transformative journey that awaits them as future business leaders.

The programme commenced with the registration, followed by the traditional Lamp Lighting Ceremony, symbolising the pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment. The ceremonial lamp was lit by Prof. R. P. Hooda, Director, Apeejay School of Management; Prof. Ashok Ogra, Advisor, Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication; Prof. Sajal Mukherjee, Director, Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication; and the Chief Guest, Mr. Rajeev Puri, Director, India & MEA, along with the newly inducted students. The ceremony was gracefully compered by Dr. Chhaya Wadhwa, who set a warm and enthusiastic tone for the event.

Welcoming the new batch, Prof. R. P. Hooda introduced students to the institution’s leadership team and highlighted the rich legacy of the Apeejay Education Society. He spoke about ASM’s commitment to academic excellence and its continuous efforts to align its curriculum, pedagogy, and learning ecosystem with the evolving needs of industry. He encouraged students to make the most of the opportunities available to them and prepare themselves to become responsible, future-ready professionals.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Sajal Mukherjee reflected on his professional journey spanning more than four decades and shared valuable insights into the changing landscape of management education. He urged students to cultivate independent thinking and develop an entrepreneurial mindset, emphasising that “thought is what truly matters” in today’s rapidly changing world. Highlighting ASM’s unique strengths, he spoke about the institute’s one-to-one mentorship programme, extensive alumni network of 33 successful graduating batches, modern infrastructure, and industry-focused curriculum. Stressing the importance of continuous learning, he encouraged students to develop the habit of reading books and newspapers to stay informed and navigate the challenges of the VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) business environment.

The highlight of the inaugural session was the keynote address by Chief Guest Mr. Rajeev Puri, Director, India & MEA, who shared inspiring lessons from his illustrious corporate career that began with Voltas in Mumbai during the 1980s. Drawing from his experience at Dabur, he narrated the remarkable success story behind the launch of Vatika Coconut Hair Oil, which has evolved into a global brand valued at over ₹1,000 crore. Encouraging students to remain proactive and adaptable, he advised them to consistently seek opportunities, focus on creating value in every role, embrace technological advancements, and build a strong presence on digital and social media platforms to remain competitive in today’s business world.

The inaugural orientation session concluded on an inspiring note, motivating students to embark on their management journey with curiosity, resilience, innovation, and a commitment to lifelong learning. The programme successfully laid a strong foundation for the new PGDM batch while reaffirming Apeejay School of Management’s commitment to nurturing responsible, industry-ready, and future-focused business leaders.
