When students gained precious insights on mutual funds

The Finance Club of Apeejay Stya University (ASU) recently hosted an informative webinar on “Introduction to Mutual Funds”. The webinar provided participants an opportunity to learn about the basics of mutual funds and get in-depth guidance on how to invest, the benefits of mutual funds and the different courses available.

The guest speakers for the webinar included Dr. Glen Loven, former CEO of Inspire Viva Global Private Limited, Mr. Vandeep Ratra, CFO and Head of Strategy at GBKC Global Private Limited and Mr Pulkit Bhardwaj, Consultant, DG Consulting and an IIT-Kanpur alumnus. 

Joining the webinar from Canada, Dr. Loven shared insights on the global aspects of mutual fund investment, the increasing investment in mutual funds in India, and various types of funds available for investment. He went on to elaborate upon the various career options in the field of mutual funds. “Some of the prominent career choices, among many others, are mutual fund analyst, mutual fund financial managers, mutual fund lawyers, mutual fund portfolio managers, mutual fund risk managers etc,” added Dr Loven.

The webinar saw enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members of School of Management Sciences, ASU. 

Speaking on similar lines, Mr. Vandeep Ratra explainedhow mutual funds work in India, their history and benefits. He then spoke in detail about the structures and methods to invest in mutual funds and helped the audienceunderstand how they could consider investing based on their risk appetite and the factors that they must keep in mind while investing in mutual funds.

Mr. Bhardwaj took the participants through the certificate courses available on mutual funds, their importance and relevance for establishing a career in the area. He also gave details of free certification offered by the National Institute of Securities Markets recognised by the Securities and Exchange Board of India that would add value to the CV of those keen on pursuing the field. He said, “Mutual funds are a stepping stone towards your investment journey and help you to start investing in stock markets without having much knowledge.”
