It is rightly said that students form the lifeline of a school, as they bring laughter and energy to the campus.

In an endeavour to help young learners feel the aura of the physical school after the Covid-19 pandemic, and become familiar with their teachers, the Pre-Primary Department at Apeejay School, Noida organised an informal interactive session with Kindergarten students along with their parents on Saturday, 30th October 2021.

“This was a general interaction between parents, students and teachers since they came to visit the school for the first time. For children, the pandemic has been a difficult time and they haven’t been able to grow and learn social skills. Through this event, our endeavour was to encourage their tactile and sensory abilities because kindergarten students learn by observing, touching, feeling, etc. The parents were very comfortable meeting the educators and commended their efforts to help their children through the difficult time,” says Ms. Smriti Samuel, Primary In-charge, Apeejay School, Noida.

It was a joyous exchange of thoughts as tiny tots met their peer group, played on swings and had fun together. The parent-teacher sessions followed time slots to avoid huge gatherings at the campus. The meetings were conducted by maintaining social distancing and Covid-19 safety protocols.

“We were unfortunate to not have our new admission students in the school due to the pandemic. Screen-time for these children has increased during online classes, and the possible option is to engage them in an effective manner. To invite them to a visit to school and meet their teachers and see the school physically has elated them and they have a greater sense of belongingness.”
