Basant Panchami is celebrated every year to welcome the spring season. The festival is also dedicated to Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, art, wisdom and good fortune. On this day, people wear yellow-colored clothes and worship the goddess of knowledge and wisdom. The colour symbolises knowledge and signifies peace, good health as well as prosperity.

To mark this special occasion, students of Apeejay School, Model Town, recently celebrated the festival of Basant Panchami with full vivacity and enthusiasm. The little angels dressed up in yellow traditional attire to seek the blessings of Maa Saraswati and brought yellow-coloured foods to the school for the celebration.

During the event, the teachers explained the importance of the festival and endowed Apeejayites with an opportunity to know more about the significance and the reason behind the celebrations.

Further, the teachers discussed the influence of education and the importance of books in one’s life.

“Our students celebrated the festival of Basant Panchami with a lot of joy, happiness, excitement, and devotion. Students dressed up in yellow to represent the mustard fields of Punjab and worship Goddess Saraswati.”
