As people across the country celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, a 10-day festival marking the birth of Lord Ganesha, the god of prosperity and wisdom, the students of Apeejay School Noida enthusiastically assembled for a special event to pay their respect.

Children from classes nursery to 5, participated in a special assembly. It began with a thought-provoking talk on Ganesh Chaturthi, followed by the story of Lord Ganesha. The teachers presented an informative PPT highlighting the significance and important aspects of the festival.

A shlok, citing the magnificence of lord Ganesha was also recited while explaining its meaning to the students. They were told about the leadership qualities that they could learn from the deity.

The audience also enjoyed a devotional dance performance on Ganesh Vandana that immersed everyone in the divinity of ‘Gajaanan’. The students enjoyed the assembly very much and learned about their rich culture and heritage.

AK Sharma, principal, and Smriti Samuel, primary incharge, addressed the students and asserted the importance of celebrating festivals. They pointed out how Lord Ganesha was worshipped before beginning anything new or auspicious.

Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, is marked by the installation of Lord Ganesha’s clay idols at home or elaborate pandals. The festival is celebrated with great pomp and show. During the festival, devotees relish various delicacies including modak, which is said to be the favourite of Lord Ganesha. On the tenth day, the idol is carried in a procession and immersed in a water body, also known as ‘visarjan’. The clay idol dissolves, and Lord Ganesha is believed to return to his celestial abode.

“The festival of Ganesha Chaturthi marks the birth of Lord Ganesha, the God of wisdom, prosperity, protector and remover of obstacles.”
