About the author

Matt Haig is an English author and journalist. He has written both fiction and non-fiction books for children and adults.

The Midnight Library is an excellent novel on regrets and the ultimate meaning of life.

The novel is based on the idea that there is a library between life and death, where the volumes include stories from other universes. What may have been, what might be, and how each version of one’s life turned out.

With the aid of the librarian, Nora experiences several other versions of her life. She is someone who regrets a lot and has a lot of unanswered concerns about her life. She thinks about which of the lives she reads about is the finest and what it is that gives life its true purpose as she contemplates how her life might have turned out if she had made different choices.

It is a well-written book that will give you insights into different choices one can make at any point in life.

Some of my favorite quotes mentioned in the book are

“The thing that looks the most ordinary might end up being the thing that leads you to victory.”

“You don’t have to understand life. You just have to live it.”

“The only way to learn is to live.”
