Once Captain Vikram Batra said, “Either I will come back hoisting the Tiranga, or I will come back wrapped in it, but I will come back for sure”. Army Day is celebrated on January 15, in each and every corner of India, in recognition of ‘Field Marshal Kodandera Madappa Cariappa’, taking over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from ‘General Francis Robert Roy Bucher’, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India on January 15, 1949. And to honour the valour, sacrifices and unwavering commitment of the Indian Army to safeguarding the nation’s security.

On this day, all the ministers and officers gathered at the ‘Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate, New Delhi’. After paying tribute to the sacrificed soldiers, many parades and other military shows in many parts of the country. This year on January 15, 2024, India will celebrate its 76th Indian Army Day in Lucknow, Uttar  Pradesh. Gallantry awards and Sena Medeles are also awarded on this day.

The theme of Indian Army Day 2024 is “In Service Of The Nation”. This theme encapsulates the core essence of Indian Army existence to “Serve Before Self”, which emphasises the primacy of national services over individual interest. It highlights the selfless sacrifices made by the Indian Army personnel to safeguard the nation’s security and uphold its value.

On this day, the army of our country celebrates its independence. Indian soldiers struggle to save our freedom 365 days of the year so it is our duty that on this day let us join this happiness and remember their inestimable sacrifices.
