Students of Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication had the opportunity to attend an orientation lecture by Sujata Soni Bali, Managing Director of Miran Productions. With years of experience in theatre, corporate events, product launches, trade shows, fashion shows and more, she shared her expertise and valuable lessons on the growing field of event management.

In her session, she broke down the essence of an event in the simplest yet most profound way: “An event is any special occasion.” From a small birthday party to a large-scale sports or corporate event; what defines event management is ensuring that everything runs smoothly and according to the plan.

She also highlighted how the scope of event management in India has been expanding rapidly. Events today are not just gatherings – they are carefully curated experiences. Another crucial aspect she underlined was the importance of Public Relations and Advertising in making any event a success. No matter how well an event is planned, it needs visibility, communication and outreach to create impact.

But perhaps the most memorable part of her talk was her personal advice – “Just go with the flow.” At first glance, it may sound simple. But for students stepping into a dynamic field like event management, it felt like a mantra of reassurance. And as we move forward as professionals stepping into the industry, her advice to go with the flow is not just about events – it’s about life itself.
