Published

Last year due to Covid-19, a majority of parents in the state of Punjab shifted their wards to government schools. However, post the pandemic, parents are re-admitting their children to private institutions due to the dearth of teachers in government schools.

The situation of these schools are cited ‘grim,’ while some may even face closure. Commenting on the crisis, Education Minister, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said, “The situation had arisen due to insufficient recruitments done by the previous governments. Our priority is to recruit the teachers and the process will start soon. This will resolve the problem.”

Till that time, the trend of ‘reverse migration’ continues in Punjab.
