‘Service as Action’ is an important component of the Middle Year Programme at Apeejay School International, South Delhi. So, as part of the programme, I decided to collaborate with an NGO called ‘Animal Trust’ that works for the rescue and rehabilitation of sick and needy animals. This organisation was started in June 2007 and has been working for animal welfare and environmental awareness.

Besides executing their main goal of rescuing and rehabilitating needy and stranded animals, they also run shelters, sterilisation drives, and conduct various educational programmes in schools and colleges.

I have been working on this project for the past 6 months. In the initial months, I visited many areas and helped out in the locality. Later, I began collecting donations, creating awareness posters, and organising campaigns. I have also worked with various schools and colleges to bring students and faculties to the NGO and show them around. There is also a donation box in our school as well as in my society for others to donate to this noble cause.
