Reiterating the spirit of ‘Soaring High’ on Dr Stya Paul’s 103rd birth anniversary

The students and staff members of Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar paid a heartfelt tribute to beloved Dr Stya Paul, the Founder Chairman of Apeejay Education and Apeejay Stya Groupon his 103rd birth anniversary.

A special celebration was held in the AIMETC premises in which Dr Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC paid floral tribute to the visionary soul. The celebrations started with ‘Shabad Gayan’, filling the hall with positive energy while inspiring each member with the Founder Chairman’s inspiring life journey.

Speaking on the special occasion, Dr Bagga said, “Dr Stya Paul was an enterprising person, a strong disciplinarian, and a beacon light who steered the Apeejay movement to its present glory all throughout his life.”

Further, he shared details of Dr Stya Paul’s biography and some of his illustrious achievements. Dr Bagga exhorted the students to help realise the vision of Dr Stya Paul by adopting his qualities like empathy, kind- heartedness, fearlessness, and love for truth.

On this auspicious day, he also shared the message from Ms. Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman Apeejay Education Society:

“Dr Stay Paul was an eminent industrialist, educationist, freedom fighter and philanthropist of the highest order. His life is a shining example of how we can overcome all odds to achieve our dreams and become a beacon of inspiration for all around us.

Commemorating his birthday is our way of paying tribute to his determination, hard work and spirit of excellence that helped him rise from humble beginnings and overcome physical disabilities to become one of the most successful and respected men of this nation.

Over the years, he has been actively associated with several causes – in the field of industry, education and social uplift. Kind, benevolent, and ever-ready to help all, he left a lasting impact on all those he came into contact with. All this was done quietly; he never took any credit, only liked to pass it around.  He desired no monuments or awards for himself, though over the years, innumerable awards and honours have been conferred on him by governments, universities and organisations for his contribution to the development of the nation, in both education and industry.

I would like to end with one of the favourite Urdu couplets of my father, the inspiration behind his life and the motto of the Apeejay Education Society – “Soaring High is my Nature” —

Tu shaheen hai parvaaz hai kaam tera

Tere samne aasman aur bhi hai

“You are a falcon. Soaring high is your nature.

There are skies yet for you to conquer””

Further, the students enthralled the audience with a melodious melody and a spectacular dance performance. A special speech was delivered on the theme ‘Soaring High is my nature’ by Akansha of BTECH, Rupinder of MBA and Jasmilan of BCA.

With an aim of developing valuable qualities of hard work, empathy and love for honesty, a poster-making competition was organised in the institute on the theme of ‘Human Values’. Both Shahida Tasneem of BBA and Ravjeet of B Com won the first prize, whereas, Purnima of BBA grabbed second prize and Dilpreet of BBA came third.

On this special day, students were also honoured with ‘Dr. Stya Paul Award for Human Values’. The recipients of the Dr Stya Paul Award for Human Values 2022 were Shweta of MBA (in Post Graduate category) and Akansha Tyagi of BTECH (CSE) (in Undergraduate category)

Towards the end of the event, the winners were felicitated with certificates and a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each. The celebrations concluded with the National Anthem and all the students were served refreshments.
