Teaching using the case method process focuses on a case and involves students learning by doing. Cases are real stories that require problems-solving skills, analytical abilities, and decision-making power. In fact, case-based teaching simulates real world situations and asks students to actively grapple with complex problems. And this method of teaching is used across disciplines.

Hence to further equip faculty members with different methods of case writing and teaching methods, Apeejay School of Management (ASM) organised a session on the same.  Prof. (Dr.) Nimit Gupta, a seasoned academician in the area of outcome-based education and an accreditation and ranking expert, was invited as the key speaker for this session. With 20 years of experience in teaching, academic administration, consultancy and research, Dr. Nimit deliberated on the importance of cases in creating a link between teaching and research.

He also shared a case tool kit with all the ASM faculty members which will help them in drafting the case studies and teaching notes. Dr. Nimit is also on the advisory council of Harvard Business Review. He is also reviewer of national and international Scopus indexed journals. He emphasised on the importance of teaching notes in cases.

This engaging session was organised by Research Incharge Prof. Anuj Kumar. Sharing his thoughts, Prof. Kumar said, “It was a wonderful session in which faculty members learnt about hands-on experience on developing the case studies. All the faculty members attended the session.”

Director of ASM Dr Alka Munjal felicitated the guest. At-last, Prof. Kamal Kishore, Dean at ASM, ended the session with a vote of thanks. “Such sessions help our faculty members in developing the cases for reputed journals. It was an enriching session,” he said.
