A visionary, educationist, freedom fighter, eminent industrialist, and philanthropist, Dr Stya Paul was a beacon of inspiration behind the Apeejay Stya and Svran Group. His legacy still lives on through every student who studies in an Apeejay institute.
Remembering the visionary soul on his 103rd birth anniversary, members of Apeejay Dwarka campus celebrated the Founder’s Day with great reverence. The special occasion commenced with faculty members and students from Apeejay School of Management (ASM) and Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) paying a floral tribute to the beloved Founder-Chairman. Every member of ASM and AIMC pledged to work hard and live up to the ideals given by the Hon’ble Founder Chairman, a karmayogi who believed “Work is Worship’’.

Following the opening speech by Dr. Alka Munjal, Director of ASM, Prof. Ashok Ogra, Founder Director and Advisor of AIMC and Dr. R P Hooda, Emeritus Professor, ASM shared their words of remembrance with the audience. The auspicious day was marked with a line of activities. A blood donation camp was organised in which more than 60 people had registered. Simultaneously, Apeejay School of Management had installed a Mammography check-up booth for all females. These camps were organised in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Delhi.

The day continued with various student competitions, cultural events and award ceremonies. Four student teams (two from ASM and two from AIMC) gave a presentation on “Ethical Management Practices and Young Managers”. In this competition, Rohan Pandey and Shriti Goyal bagged the first prize, the 2nd position was secured by Kripa Arora and Prachi Khandelwal of AIMC, and 3rd prize was awarded to Aditya Anand Jha and Kajal Aggarwal of ASM. This was followed by a scintillating dance and song performances by students of ASM and AIMC.

During the award ceremony, Dr Munjal shared a message from Ms. Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Education:
“Commemorating Dr. Stya Paul’s birthday is our way of paying tribute to his determination, hard work and spirit of excellence that helped him rise from humble beginnings and overcome physical disabilities to become one of the most successful and respected men of this nation. Words cannot merely depict or reflect the illustrious achievements of his life, or the depths of his multidimensional personality.
His punctuality, sense of discipline, dedication and focus made him an ideal role model of excellence for all those who worked with him. For Dr Stya Paul, work was passion, and he hated to miss office even when he was ill. He had a sharp memory for people, was an excellent listener, apart from being a good orator and writer.

Over the years, he has been actively associated with several causes – in the field of industry, education and social uplift. Kind, benevolent, and ever ready to help all, he left a lasting impact on all those he came into contact with.
He pioneered the Apeejay Stya Group into an industrial conglomerate, and the Apeejay Education Society (which is a Social Commitment of the Group) into one of the most respected and successful educational organisations of India. Under him, 26 Apeejay institutions- schools, colleges and higher institutes – have come up and flowered to become symbols of excellence in their various disciplines, moulding the life and careers of all future generations. Year 2010 also saw the realisation of his dream of setting up the Apeejay Stya University – a world-class university that would not only be a seat of global learning, but also one that brings about transformation of society through value-based, man-making and nation-building education.
So, as we remember and honour him on this day, let us take a pledge to uphold the legacy of excellence that he leaves behind, and strive to achieve the goals to which he devoted his life.”

Also, every year students who personify and exhibit human values in their day-to-day life are felicitated – with a citation and a scholarship on this special occasion of Founder’s Day. Sukhleen Kaur from ASM was awarded this prestigious and coveted Dr. Stya Paul Award for Human Values.
