Himanshu Bisht, a student of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar, was selected for the position of Relationship Officer (RO) at Kotak Mahindra Bank through campus placements. Edited excerpts:

What got you interested in the banking sector? Tell us more about your profile.

I wanted to work in the banking sector because I believe that while the job is exciting it is also a relatively secure industry. As an RO, I will be responsible for selling the bank’s services like insurance, fixed deposits, saving account openings, and more. Apart from Marketing, I am also passionate about banking services. So, this job aligns with my interests and personality. I plan to flourish in this sector only.

What was your experience at AIMETC like?

The infrastructure at AIMETC is very good. The staff is very helpful. Apart from regular classes, we participated in various workshops and competitions. My mentors helped me immensely in preparing for the campus placements. Initially, I knew very little about the banking sector, but it is because of them that I was able to prepare well for my interview with Kotak Mahindra.

What skills did you develop through your journey?

Leadership and communication skills are the two most important skills I honed during my time at AIMETC. These skills are essential for every professional. I was underconfident earlier when it came to conversing with others but now, I can confidently speak to people, so that’s one of the areas where I have improved a lot.
