Jalandhar school invites parents to participate in Diwali festivities with their kids

The school set up game stalls and decorated the campus to celebrate the festival

Ahead of Diwali, Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar, organised a grand ‘mela’ to mark the beginning of the celebrations. For the occasion, the students donned festive attire and played exciting games. They also relished delicious snacks.

Several colourful stalls and decorations adorned the mela. The gaming section included Hoopla, Lucky Dip, Bull’s Eye, Ringo the Flamingo, Sequence Cup, Tambola, to name a few. The glittering event was also attended by the parents, relatives, and friends, who enthusiastically participated in all activities.

Deepak Shara, Councillor Ward, No 62, Jalandhar, was the chief guest. He appreciated the school’s efforts in organising the event and introducing children to festivals like Diwali, which are an integral part of our rich culture.

School coordinator Deepti Kaushal extended greetings to all and encouraged students to celebrate green Diwali.

This year, Diwali will be celebrated on October 24. Known as a Festival of Lights, it is celebrated in the Hindu lunisolar month of Kartika (between mid-October and mid-November). The festival symbolises the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. On this day, people illuminate their homes and workplaces with diyas and rangolis. They wear their finest clothes, visit friends and relatives, and indulge in festive delicacies. Some also worship Lakshmi, the Goddess of prosperity and wealth.

“Diwali mela at our Tanda Road branch was an attempt to bring all parents on an informal platform. Parents added value to the festivities by enthusiastically participating in the mela.”
