How is mental health essential for the overall well-being of a person? We have always been told to eat proper food and have a balanced diet and try to stay healthy so that our body functions properly. But do we give the same thought and attention to our mental health?

The presence of positivity and happiness in our minds is a very important aspect for our survival. Often, we go through some or the other form of anxiety, stress or trauma that impacts us mentally. How does that affect our health? It leads us to deny eating healthy food and consume proper amounts of water.

Once a person’s mind is clouded with negativity, it starts affecting their physical health. A person starts losing their appetite, stops eating properly and tends to just sleep or lay down often. A constant feeling of laziness overtakes their better selves.

Studies show that 90% of general health issues happen due to a stressful mind. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, most of us, be it teenagers, kids or adults have increasingly indulged in the usage of social media. It is one of the biggest reasons why we feel unworthy and insecure.

Everyone tries to appear happy and display living a perfect life on social media. We see people wearing better clothes, better accessories, having a great appearance and an indifferent life. Those who feel devoid of the same begin to question their self-worth. We need to realise that social media is unrealistic. People tend to put forward their perfect self and that is not true.

Let’s just remember that we all are beautiful in our unique way. So, how can we feel better mentally? Simply by talking to each other. Conversing is one of the most powerful things that we have been gifted with. Whenever we feel uneasy or have something bothering us, we must talk to our loved one.

If we still feel pressured, then we must seek professional counselling without delay. Mental health is as important as our physical health. Let’s not bury our problems deep inside us. So, try to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
