For college students, an internship is a necessity to accomplish full-time employment after graduating. Internships help in expanding knowledge, to understand the job expectations of the job market and build essential skills to be successful in your career path.  It is therefore a stepping stone on the path of a “real job world”. And so, Ashita Goel of School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) at Apeejay Stya University is leaving no stone unturned in terms of learning something new every day as she is interning with Movee Merchant Production House, a comprehensive content production hub. “In just one month, I got to learn an abundance of things, I went to a shoot as  Assistant Director also. It has been a nice journey where there are a lot of things to explore! I look forward to giving my best in this roller-coaster ride to seize  innumerable opportunities,” the 2nd-year Apeejay student mentions.

Unfolding new opportunities

Ashita joined her two-month internship to work as a script writer. But fortunately, she is exploring many fields at Movee Merchant Production House. In addition to authoring a script, she is also handling post production work and directing in videos. “My modest mentors constantly encourage me to explore new things. I began by creating scripts and then moved on to copywriting. The experience of writing the show’s scripts was incredible. In addition to this, I structured videos for companies like Pilot. Furthermore, I attended the Sunshine Global Event as an assistant director. All of this taught me how to deal with circumstances, how to make quick, wise decisions, what mistakes to avoid, and most importantly, how vital relationships are to our profession,” the budding media professional emphasises.

Leaving no stone unturned

She is happily honing her script writing skills right now. However, she also looks forward to learning more about the video content industry because it will enable her to bring imagery vision to life. “Converting your thoughts into compelling storytelling is a valuable art which very few people possess. Therefore, I would definitely take advantage of this skill of mine. There are many challenges, no doubt, but where there is a will, there is a way,” Ashita adds.

A word of advice

When asked how she cracked this internship, Ashita suggests searching the organisation’s official website where one aspires to intern and get in touch with the team. “However, I would like to mention that my professors assisted me in securing this internship, which has allowed me to explore and experience a lot,” she says.
