The first step to begin a successful journey is to start saying, ‘I can.’ And once that is in place, step by step, we will eventually reach our goals. If in doing all this, we find encouragement, appreciation and well-wishers on our way, then nothing can be better than that!

Staying true to this spirit, Apeejay School, Saket recently held the annual scholar badge ceremony to felicitate students of classes 6 to 12 for their academic excellence and progress. Called, ‘Dakshta Padak Samaroh’, the event commenced with the auspicious lighting of the lamp amidst soulful rendition of the Saraswati Vandana.

The school’s Principal, Dr Sujeet Eric Masih, addressed the gathering by sharing the mission and vision of Apeejay Education that stresses upon holistic development, man-making and nation building. Further, he welcomed the guests, students, parents and teachers to the occasion and congratulated the awardees.

The Chief Guest of the day was a distinguished luminary, Dr. Manoj Kumar Sinha, Director, Indian Law Institute. He enlightened and motivated the young scholars with his enriching words. Addressing them, he stated that students should explore all fields and domains before zeroing down on their career choice. He highlighted how for this new generation, an array of jobs and opportunities are open. Furthermore, he motivated the students to keep working hard and stay driven by excellence.

Altogether, 118 students received the scholar badges and certificates on the memorable day. Super Scholars for three years and four years were duly felicitated in the school. A teacher from Apeejay School, Saket shared her thoughts on the scholar badge ceremony. She said, “The idea of conducting this ceremony each year is to make students feel valued and appreciated for their small and big achievements as well as their progress.”

“At Apeejay, we believe that each child is unique, therefore, they are their own competition. Each day, they should strive to do better than the previous one. Through this ceremony, the school commemorated their milestones with great zeal. Interestingly, many students have shown improvement in their academic performances each year, thanks to this effort. And by seeing them, other students also feel encouraged to give studies their best shot. It resonates with our school’s motto too, ‘Soaring High is my Nature’”, she added.

The proud parents of the students who witnessed the event appreciated the endeavour of the school. Speaking about what went behind the scenes to put up a great show, Ms. Zenia Dutta, Head of Mathematics Department in the school, says “The preparation for the events began about two months prior to the big day. From shortlisting the scholar students to inviting the guests and shortlisting the guest of honour, all was done with great enthusiasm. On the final day, we put our best foot forward to ensure that all parents and students are well taken care of. To add spark to the occasion, we also handed out goody bags to the scholars and made them feel like a star to glorify their hard work and determination. It was heartening to see our young learners with happy and cheerful faces.”

At the close of the day, Ms Ritesh Sharma, the school’s academic coordinator proposed a vote of thanks.
