Please tell us about your educational background.

I finished schooling from Apeejay, Saket. In school, I opted for the Science stream. I was keen to learn about Biology. However, after taking a few medical examinations, I re-aligned my goal towards the field of Zoology. Then, I joined a Bachelor’s course in the subject at Hansraj College, University of Delhi. At the same time, I was part of the Entrepreneurship society and Placement Cell in the college. That led me to begin interning with a few corporations. Finally, I got placed in Zomato in the year 2021 after the completion of my degree. It has now been about a year and two months in the firm.

Why did you switch from Zoology to a career in corporate?

During college, I worked with the Swiss multinational food and drink processing conglomerate, Nestle. My knowledge and public-speaking skills helped me make a mark in the corporate world. And so, I realised my calling. To be able to express oneself in front of an audience, is a much needed skill for a sales and consulting role.

What are your responsibilities at Zomato?

I look into the local restaurants’ orders, menu to rates and delivery in Ludhiana. It is my role to cull out how their businesses will benefit on the Zomato app. I along with my team members also work towards data and analyse it to improve their sales. I coordinate and consult with the restaurant to bring them more customers.

How have food delivery partners thrived during Covid-19?

Firstly, these companies were geared up to follow the government’s guidelines and Covid-19 protocols early on. Whether it was a student or a working professional, these apps came as an easy solution in the pandemic. There were deliveries that could happen even in 10 minutes, and these food partners made it very convenient and hassle-free for people.

Your corporate learnings?

I joined an Indian multinational restaurant aggregator and food delivery company as a fresher. Naturally, I was extremely delighted to explore the new opportunity. The company and my team members have taught me a lot on how to work and analyse data. In the course of my career, I have become more patient and persevering.

What next would you like to explore?

In the future, I would be delighted to have a role in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. I feel that I can pair my know-how about sales and consulting in this domain. In the coming years, FMCG will include greater data usage and integration to boost profits and improve consumer experience. So, I see an upward data-driven trend.

Your fond memories at Apeejay School, Saket?

I was part of Apeejay from class Nursery till 12. I was fortunate to have Ms. Anita Paul as the Principal of our school. She still inspires me! I vividly remember my teachers in the school. All of them were extremely supportive and kind. My dramatics teacher, Gautam sir, introduced me to the stage and helped boost my confidence. The school provided me with immense opportunities, be it public-speaking or declamation events. These helped explore my skills and talent across zonal, state and national-level championships.
