Grandparents and grandchildren share strong values, devotion, care and immense understanding. It is the purest form of love, one in which elders try to impart their experiences and learnings to the kids. Recently, Apeejay School, Faridabad Sector-15 held a celebration of this special relationship and commemorated Grandparent’s Day for which the school encouraged primary wing students to showcase their love and memories.

The event commenced with a soulful invocation by students of class 2 to seek the blessings of the Almighty. A warm welcome was accorded to all by the school Principal Mrs. Anita Yadav. In her address, she highlighted the role of grandparents who form strong roots and create a legacy for a family.

Further, young learners from classes Nursery, Kindergarten and 1 exhibited power-packed performances inclusive of vibrant and graceful movements.  A melodious poem recitation and performance by class 3 students brought cheer and joy to the faces of the grandparents.

“I had a great experience during the event. We spent more than 2 hours there, honestly, I didn’t even realise that until I reached home. The performances by the students were exceptional,” says Ms. Seema Gupta, grandmother of student Sanchi.

Hasya Yoga by class 5 students was the highlight of the event as they spread the message of good health. Special games designed for grandparents witnessed enthusiastic participation. A lot of grandparents poured out their emotions by sharing their feedback on the beautifully designed graffiti wall. Capturing the memories from the day, the wall was vibrantly decorated and named as the ‘selfie- corner’.

Mr. RK Malhotra, Director – Administration at Neumann Components Private Limited and grandfather of student Sayesha says, “Apeejay School, Faridabad was built in front of my eyes many decades ago. Since that time, I have had immense faith in the school’s senior management and staff. As our residence is right opposite to the school in Faridabad, I have felt closely associated with it. My children too have studied here.”

Speaking about the grandparent’s day celebrations, he adds, “It was a welcome opportunity! The best part was how the grandparents stood tall on the stage and sang their favourite songs! I heartily commend the efforts of the school for putting up a great show.”

The day ended with a Vote of Thanks proposed by school’s Headmistress Mrs. Ritu Kanwar. She thanked the grandparents for taking out time and creating memories for a lifetime with them!

“We celebrated the strong and magical bond between a grandparent and a grandchild through a heartwarming display of performances, signifying the unconditional love and joy that is characteristic of this bond.”
