Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, celebrated Teachers’ Day at their campus with great enthusiasm. It served as the perfect occasion to shower love on the edcuators and make them feel special.

Marking the beginning of the celebrations, the office bearers of the Student Welfare Association (SWA) assembled at the college reception and formally welcomed the faculty. The teachers, upon entry, were gifted flowers and chocolates.

A cake-cutting ceremony was organised thereafter. The SWA students also showed their gratitude to their gurus by giving plants and seeds to mark an eco-friendly celebration.

On this special occasion, Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Co-promoter and President, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, shared a heartfelt message, which was circulated among the members of ACFA. The message acknowledged the role of teachers in shaping the destiny of students and the nation. She further highlighted how the educators at Apeejay were well-equipped to be in sync with the approach and nuances of the New Education Policy (NEP). New-age education is all about blended learning, she stressed, and advised professors to be mindful of the changes, and update and upskill themselves accordingly.

Madam President also sent copies of a book titled “Hinge” by Vandana Kohli, which focuses on emotional and mental health, and was distributed among all faculty members.

Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year on September 5 in India to acknowledge the contribution of teachers to shaping the youth of the country. The day also marks the birth anniversary of India’s second President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. It was on his birthday in 1962 when he suggested that instead of having a grand celebration for his birthday, students should celebrate the occasion as Teachers’ Day.

“I give my heartiest congratulations to every teacher as we celebrate Teachers’ Day. The intent behind this celebration is to recognise the contribution of teachers to society. Teachers have the power to change lives with the right mix of chalk and challenges. At ACFA, we have qualified and stalwart faculty who make persistent efforts to groom the multi-faceted personality of students. I hope that with a commitment to excellence and dedication, our teachers will prove to be assets not only to the Institution but also to society.”
