Discovering the joy and benefits of cycling

During the summer holidays, I realised how valuable and important cycling is. There are so many benefits to cycling, like getting stronger, improving balance and coordination. But what I love most about the sport is the sense of adventure and exploring new places. It’s not just fun, it also helps protect us from serious diseases like stroke, heart attack, and even depression.

Cycling is a great way to stay fit and healthy at any age. Plus, it’s affordable and good for the environment too. I learned all this because my mentor, Mrs. Maninder Kaur, encouraged me to participate in cycling events. She’s been really supportive and kind. She’s part of the Hawk Riders Cycling group in Jalandhar, and now I am too.

The events I took part in were organised by Decathlon at MBD Mall, in Jalandhar cantonment area, and by Civil Surgeon Dr. Raman Sharma to promote physical and mental health. They were all amazing experiences. I’m also inspired by Mr. Baljit Mahajan, who is 80 years old and still cycles. Age doesn’t stop him!

I want to thank my mentor, Mrs. Maninder Kaur, Mr. Hardeep Singh, a senior rider who always guided us during rides.  Also, Mr. Rohit Sharma, President of the Hawk Riders Cycling group and the entire Hawk Riders Cycling group for teaching me the importance of cycling and social activities.
