Sukrati Jain recently completed her PGDM in Finance and Marketing from Apeejay School of Management. During her MBA, she focused on building both technical and practical skills through internships, finance projects, competitions, and certifications. Looking back at her journey with the Delhi-based management school, she describes how different experiences helped her become more confident, disciplined, and industry-ready. Read edited excerpts:

Why did you choose ASM for education?

I chose Apeejay School of Management because of its strong academic reputation, industry-oriented curriculum, and excellent placement support. I wanted a college where learning goes beyond textbooks, and ASM provided exactly that through internships, corporate interactions, live projects, and experiential learning.

Another factor was the supportive faculty, who encouraged us to think practically and continuously improve ourselves. Looking back, I believe choosing ASM was one of the right decisions for my career.

Your favourite memory from college?

There are many memorable moments, but if I had to choose one, it would be participating in finance competitions and serving as the President of the Finance Club. Organising events, working with my team, and interacting with students from different backgrounds helped me develop leadership and teamwork skills. Winning finance competitions made those experiences even more special.
Apart from academics, the friendships, classroom discussions, cultural events, and spending time with classmates created memories that I’ll always cherish.

How did working on different projects and assignments help you build skills?

Projects gave me practical exposure that textbooks alone cannot provide.
For example, my internship with the WTO Centre for Studies improved my analytical and research skills by working with international trade data. My finance projects strengthened my financial analysis, Excel, and data interpretation skills, while presentations improved my communication and confidence.
Assignments also taught me time management, problem-solving, teamwork, and the ability to work under deadlines—skills that are equally important in the corporate world.

How did ASM and teachers help you grow personally and professionally?

The faculty at ASM always encouraged us to ask questions, think critically, and focus on continuous learning instead of just scoring marks. They guided us during projects, internships, presentations, and placement preparation, providing constructive feedback that helped improve both my technical knowledge and communication skills. Professionally, they helped me become industry-ready, while personally they helped me become more confident, responsible, and adaptable. Their mentorship played an important role in shaping my overall personality.
