CBSE class 12 Economics paper analysis: It was moderately difficult but NCERT-based

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on March 17, 2023, conducted the Economics Board exam for class XII. The question paper was for 80 marks. Students were required to complete the paper in three hours – from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.

The format of the question paper: The paper had two sections.

Section A – Macro Economics

Section B – Indian Economic Development

In all, there were 34 questions.

There were 20 Multiple Choice Questions type questions of 1 mark each.

4 short answer questions type of 3 marks.

6 short answer questions type of 4 marks each.

4 long answer questions type of 6 marks each.

According to Jyotika Gupta, PGT Economics at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, while the overall question paper was moderately difficult, everything was asked from the NCERT textbook. “The paper was as per CBSE standards – not too easy, not too difficult. The only thing was that this time, there were more numericals,” Gupta said.

Here is the low down that she gave:

The CBSE has set up 7,250 exam centres across the nation and 26 countries abroad. The total number of registered candidates for class XII is 16.9 lakh candidates. Out of these, 7.4 lakh are girl students, 9.51 are boys. The class XII exams will be conducted for 36 days and will be over on April 5, 2023. The CBSE conducted exams in 115 subjects for class XII.

The results are slated to be released in May 2023 on CBSE’s official website.
