Experiential learning: Volunteering at a live event

We believe in the power of events. We believe in bringing communities together,” said Dr. Annurag Batra, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, BW Businessworld at the BW Applause Experiential Marketing Awards and Summit 2022.  

Students of Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) participated in BW Applause 2022 as student volunteers. The one-day event helped the students gain the experience of working at a live event with industry professionals.

From guest coordination to the awards ceremony, AIMC students volunteered in all activities. Mr. Ruhail Amin, Deputy Editor, BW Businessworld Applause and Dr Pijush Dutta from AIMC guided the students and helped them gain a better perspective of live events.

The event consisted of panel discussions and addresses by esteemed leaders of BW Businessworld. Hoshie Ghaswalla, CEO of BW Businessworld Engage mentioned in his address that the job of a marketer is to connect people to their customers. “Marketing landscape for B2B has shifted. BW Engage enables the funnels and pipelines of marketing departments,” he further added. The rise of hybrid events and event marketing to make the brand experience more immersive were among the topics that were discussed.

Samit Garg, President of Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA) in his presentation said that according to the industry matrix the MICE Business has a market size of 60,000 + crores in India and EEMA is the torch bearer of this change. Mr. Garg laid emphasis on innovation and collaboration. “The only way to predict the future is to go out and create it. Dream big to achieve big,” with these closing remarks, he wrapped his insightful and compelling presentation and left everyone in the audience with a thought to overcome the fear of falling.

The event concluded with the awards ceremony. Bhaskar Sharma, CEO of Red Bull India, Dr. Annurag Batra, Chairman and -Editor-in-Chief of BW World & Exchange4media Group, Deepali Naair Director Marketing of India and South Asia and CMO – IBM, Sukanta Dev,
Ex CMO Unilever, PepsiCo, AT & T, and Rammohan Sundaram, Country Head and Managing Partner, Integrated Media, DDB Mudra Group were the members of the jury, among many other esteemed and prestigious personalities.
