Fire is the element that burns away traces of the past, enabling one to step forth on her/his new journey with clean slates and new perspectives. Therefore, the auspicious ritual of Havan is performed to purify the environment by eliminating negative energies. The spiritual ceremony is often performed at the start of special occasions to seek blessings from the Almighty.

Aligned with this thought, Apeejay Schools, Tanda Road, and Model Town in Jalandhar and Panchsheel Park in Delhi performed ‘Havan Yagya’ to seek blessings of the Almighty before the commencement of their new academic session 2023-24.

With high energy and fresh vibes, principals, teachers and staff members of the schools marked their presence and sought solace in the warmth of the yagya. They practiced chanting of the divine Vedic mantras while praying to God for the smooth functioning of the school in the coming years.

The Havan ceremony was followed by the chanting of the Gayatri mantra. Further, all the staff members offered their best wishes to each other, and in the end, prasad was distributed to all.

Adding her views on this annual ritual, Ms Pallavi Gupta, Teacher at Apeejay School, Tanda Road said, “Performing havan in school before the commencement of the session creates a positive and auspicious atmosphere, which helps students and teachers feel more focused and motivated. Havan is a spiritual practice that also helps students and teachers connect with their inner-selves and enhance their spiritual awareness.”

Another teacher of Apeejay School, Tanda Road Anu Sharma said, “The school organised this Havan ceremony to seek the blessings of Almighty for the commencement of a new academic session 2023-24. All the teachers and the administration staff members marked their presence and prayed to the Almighty for the smooth functioning of the school. These rituals connect us extensively to life and lead us to the desired path of self-fulfillment. Being part of the pious havan, one experienced divine contentment and happiness.”

Further, Sumit Kaur Goomer, Activity Incharge and Head of Department of Hindi at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park expressed, “Beginning of a new session is always an auspicious time. To fulfill this purpose, Havan is performed at the beginning of the school session, which develops the intellectual capacity of all the employees, teachers and students, who contribute to the school. New energy is also transmitted in them which strives them to perform at the best of their capabilities. With this aim, we wish all the students a bright future.”

A Social Science Educator and Coordinator at Apeejay School, Model Town, Ms Maninder Kaur expressed, “Havan ceremony was organised to mark the commencement of a new academic session.
