Intercollege or inter-school talent contests are an important platform for students as they foster healthy competition and encourage self-expression. They also promote cultural exchange, inspire teamwork, and help students develop their abilities beyond academic pursuits. Teaching students essential skills in communication, cooperation, and problem-solving are vital for success in both personal and professional life. Also,  winning or receiving recognition in intercollege competitions not just boosts confidence, but provides validation for the hard work and effort put in by participants. It can open doors to further opportunities and enhance resumes. Moreover, nurturing talent from a young age is crucial as it allows young learners to explore and develop their innate abilities. Early exposure to various activities and opportunities helps them discover their passions and strengths. It subsequently lays a strong foundation for future success and fulfillment. Thus, in a bid to encourage students to explore and unleash their talent, Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Dwarka, recently organised ‘Open Talent Contest’ for various schools and colleges.

Encouraging the students to perform their best, Dr Etinder Pal Singh, Deputy Director at Apeejay School of Management said, “The institute has been organising such events primarily to promote extracurricular activities amongst the young people. The aim is to help students overcome their inhibitions and showcase their talent confidently.”

The ‘Open Talent Content’ included three key competitions such as dancing, singing, and open mic under different categories. Students from various schools and colleges participated in these competitions. In the singing competition, Navya Bharadwaj won first prize. Anshit Kathuria, Tanu Chaudhary and Ms Madhumita won the first, second and third prizes respectively in Open Mic competition. On winning the first prize in singing, Anshit Kathuria from Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology shared, “It was great interacting with the audience and I would like to thank Apeejay School of Management for organising this event so nicely; it was really well managed. The event helped me display my musical skill. I not only won the competition, but also learned the nuances of music from other participants.”

Adding further, Madhumita from Janki Devi Memorial College, who won the third prize, said, “I participated in this event for the first time and it was awesome. Competition teaches us big lessons; it drives us to be the best we can be.”
