An insight into Indian trading system and securities market
The session held at Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus acquainted students with various career opportunities in this field
Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus in Jalandhar in association with National Institute of Securities Market (NISM) – an Educational Initiative of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), recently organised an expert lecture themed ‘Career in Securities Market’ for the students.
A total of 200 students attended this insightful session. The resource person for the session was Mr. Sanjeev Bajaj, General Manager, National Institute of Securities Market, Mumbai.
Mr Bajaj is leading the Marketing and Communication Department of the institute. The session began with highlighting the fact that there is no dearth of opportunities for competent individuals. “We, at the institute, organise a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets,” he mentioned.
He further elucidated the objectives of NISM which include creating awareness about career opportunities in security markets and creating a talent pool of individuals who can occupy various positions and roles in the securities market.
Sharing her experience of attending this session on ‘Career in Securities Market’ , Sajal Sharma, an MBA student with AIMETC said, “We were acquainted with various concepts like role of stock exchange, investment and its objectives, role and functions of NISM, mutual funds, surplus and deficit units, etc. He also gave us an insight about the career opportunities in this field, the entrance examinations aspirants need to prepare to be part to build one’s career in this sector.”
“This was a very informative session in which Bajaj sir guided us through various investment and career options available in the securities market. He also highlighted the procedure for trading in the stock exchange as well as about different regulations and policies,” mentioned another MBA student Jaya Laxmi.
Further expressing his gratitude to the resource person, Dr Rajesh Bagga, Director at AIMETC said that this session would have given all the students an insight on the career opportunities in securities market.
