Action plan to prepare for JEE 2023

“After completing a chapter or topic, check how much you can recollect and to what extent you have understood the topic,” emphasises Apeejay alumni and founder of Padhai Poori Academy

If one wishes to pursue engineering, JEE is crucial. And scoring a good rank is also imperative. For the same, Apeejay Stya University alumnus Vivek Raghav, a teacher and mentor, explains an action to prepare for the same.

Raghav is the founder of Padhai Poori Academy in which he mentors students from classes 6th to 12th. He and his team also focuses on coaching students of classes 10 and 12 in Math and Science.

When asked what interests him about PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics), he replied, “Whether Math, Physics or Chemistry, each subject has its own interpretations, topics and scope. But according to me, what is happening around us is all science. You can relate to these real-time things like why sun appears red during day time; sky colour is blue; why rainbow has seven colour; how vaccine works; how satellites works; why weight varies in different position of the earth; why solar eclipse happen and answer to all these things is a combination of physics and math.”

He further emphasised, “which are the most interesting concepts? How do I learn them? Can I make a career?” All these questions enhanced his curiosity to pursue this field while pointing out, “Interest is not ‘love at first sight’, it’s more of a process.”

The journey

After completing his 10+2 from Delhi Public School Maruti Kunj with a score of 94% in PCM,  Raghav went on to pursue B Tech in Computer Science from Apeejay Stya University. After completing his degree programme, he then started Padhai Poori Academy. “When I was in school, I loved mentoring my juniors and helping my friend to clear their doubts and they used to always say “ye toh teacher se acha samjhata hai”. It was itself when I was in class 12, I used to teach students of class 11. I was sure I could establish my career in coaching and mentoring students. Today, I am running my academy and in a short span of time with God’s grace, I am doing really well.

Inspiration to become an entrepreneur

“Nothing beats the freedom of being the boss. With freedom comes the flexibility to make your own schedule. You’ll also have the satisfaction of making your own decisions,” Raghav added.

Action plan to prepare for JEE 2023

Sharing a chalked plan for preparing for JEE, the Apeejay alumnus said, “Study a chapter and understand the concepts well. NCERT books are good for this.

While studying, make sure to note important points and formulas. These short notes will be useful during revision.”

“After studying a chapter or topic, check how much you can recollect and to what extent you have understood the topic. Then practice questions based on the topic studied. While practising do not go for the solution directly. Try to solve yourself, make mistakes and then correct it. This step will help you to know how to crack JEE Main. Make sure to give a JEE Main mock test after completing the subject.”

Importance of mock tests

Raghav also stressed on appearing for as many mock tests as possible. “It helps you to analyse your preparation levels, understand where you are making the mistakes. Use the analysis to know your weak areas and concentrate on improving while revising. Be wise and revise. Clear all your concepts before the D Day and never leave a question unanswered in your mind.”

Take Breaks

The mentor explains the need to take breaks in between studies. ”Take some time off to refresh your mind before you start again. You can listen to music, play games or do anything that eases your brain. Physical exercise for half an hour or an hour helps in boosting the memory. Eat right.”
