Launching a first-of-its-kind initiative, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg in Jalandhar gave students from classes Nursery to V, a welcome surprise by conducting adventure sports activities at school on November 12.

By transforming the regular school grounds into Collapsible Mobile Adventure Setup (CMAS) adventure zones, the school introduced a range of outdoor activities for students such as ice-breaker games, body zorbing, hamster wheeling, commando net climbing, pouch racing, sport climbing, woody waving, Burma Bridge climbing, etc. to help them build an active lifestyle post-pandemic.

Under the monitoring and guidance of 20 trained instructors from RockSport, students learnt problem-solving skills, team-building and leadership skills in a safe and controlled school environment. Teacher Coordinator at the school, Ms. Sushma Kharbanda, the pre-primary in-charge at the school, says, “The enthusiasm of the students was worth watching. They were very happy and throughout these activities were energetic, motivated, and inquisitive to try and experience new things. At the event, we also organised a bon-fire session for the students so that they can share their day’s happenings with each other.”

The event also went live on the Facebook page of the school, so that parents could see their children enjoying themselves.

“When education breaks the barriers of a classroom and goes outdoors, adventure begins. We were elated to engage our students in activities that aimed at breaking the ennui and lethargy of the long home-stay induced by the pandemic and brought cheer to the students.”
