‘War and Peace’: Poem by Sanvi Bhoi, Apeejay School, Nerul

The sound of sirens echoes around,
To their fate, the people of Ukraine are bound.
Students left their home nations in glee,
And came to Ukraine in hopes of getting a degree,
But alas, they wish now here they had never come,
For a prison Ukraine has become

It’s been more than a year since Russia attacked,
Everlasting is the war’s impact,
The world’s bread basket now starves…
Each passing day,
The citizens of Ukraine pray

Each day feels like a million years,
Everyone’s eyes, covered in tears.
Sorrow fills the silent streets,
As Russia refuses to retreat

Millions lost their loved ones,
Thousands lost their homes,
People cry in plead,
All because of one man’s greed

To this day, the war still continues,
The fight for justice and peace,
The war between love and hatred,
The war between right and wrong,
The small can beat the mighty and strong.

Why question who will win this war?
We all know in the end, in this beautiful land,
Truth, courage and humanity
Will flourish and win
