Starting school is a big milestone not just for children, but for parents too. For Ms Mekhla, mother of nursery student Reyansh at Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, GK-2, New Delhi, this journey has been filled with reassurance, visible learning, and joyful experiences. In this conversation, she shares how the school has supported her child’s early development and made learning both engaging and meaningful.
Read edited excerpts:
How has Reyansh’s journey at Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld been so far?
Reyansh joined during mid-playgroup in October 2024 and is now in nursery. He has adjusted well to the school environment. Of course, like any child, there are occasional days when he doesn’t feel like going, but overall, he is happy and comfortable. As a parent, it is reassuring to see him settle in and enjoy his time at school.
What are some key learnings you have observed in him?
There has been a noticeable improvement in how he expresses himself. He has picked up the basics like ABCs, counting, colours, days of the week, and months of the year. Beyond that, he is also learning word blending and forming simple sentences, which is wonderful to see at this stage.
As a parent, how has the school supported you during this transition?
Sending a child to school for the first time can be overwhelming, but the school has made it easier. The environment is safe and welcoming, and the school’s proximity is an added advantage. The teachers and staff are always connected and regularly share feedback, which builds a lot of trust.
What kind of activities does Reyansh enjoy the most?
He enjoys hands-on activities like puzzles, building structures, colouring, and working with clay. He also looks forward to playtime, especially the playground area with a ship-like structure. It’s clear that the school ensures children learn through play.
How would you describe your interaction with the teachers?
The communication is consistent. Daily feedback during pick-up helps us stay updated on his progress, and it has been a very positive experience so far.
Has any particular school activity stood out for him?
He especially enjoys birthday celebrations in school. These moments teach children important values like sharing and giving, which I think is very important.
