Meet this star dancer of Jalandhar
Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar’s rising star balances her love for science with a deep passion for dance.
In a candid conversation with Mr. Lahit Joshi, we discover more about his daughter Gaurika, a class 10 student at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar. She is a budding science enthusiast with a god gifted flair for dance, as she makes her mark in both academics and extracurricular activities. Read edited excerpts:
How is Gaurika progressing academically?
Gaurika’s progress is excellent. In fact, ‘very good’ doesn’t even cover it—she’s performing exceptionally well. In one word, it is ‘excellent’.
What are her favorite subjects?
She loves Science and Math. These two subjects truly captivate her.
So, will she pursue Science in Class 11?
Yes, Science is definitely in her plans, but whether she chooses medical or non-medical is entirely up to her. We want her to make that decision based on her own passion.
Is there a healthy learning environment in her class?
Absolutely. Gaurika has been at Apeejay since the beginning, and she’s built a strong group of friends. There’s a spirit of healthy competition—everyone strives to do their best, and it’s motivating to see her feel inspired by her peers’ achievements.
How do you find the teachers at the school?
The teachers have been outstanding guides. I’ve never heard a single complaint. Gaurika is constantly excelling, and I can confidently say that the teachers have played a significant role in her progress.
We hear Gaurika has a passion for dance. Can you tell us more?
Dance is her true passion. She’s trained in classical, semi-classical, and even dabbles in Western styles. In 2013, she reached the third round of a major competition and got to meet Madhuri Dixit and Malaika Arora, who both praised her talent. She’s won many state-level competitions and, in 2022, she was crowned Star of Jalandhar for her dance. Besides dance, she’s also a part of the U-15 school basketball team and plays in many tournaments.
How would you describe the principal’s vision for education at Apeejay?
The principal has a very holistic approach, focusing on every student’s progress in both academics and extracurricular activities. It’s this vision that ensures each child grows to their full potential.
Are you satisfied with Gaurika’s overall progress as a parent?
Absolutely! We’ve never encountered any issues. The school has been a tremendous support, and Gaurika’s success speaks for itself.
