Read edited excerpts:
Could you share a bit about your professional journey since graduating from Apeejay?
After completing my 12th grade from Apeejay School, Pitampura, I pursued my undergraduate studies in Journalism and Mass Communication from Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS). Then, I ventured into the dynamic world of marketing, particularly focusing on content and communication in the travel, transportation, and hospitality sector at TCS. My journey has been marked by continuous learning and growth, leading me to pursue MBA from IIM Lucknow while working at TCS. Today, I’m grateful for the diverse experiences that have honed my skills in content creation, strategic initiatives, and client relations.
It’s fascinating to hear about your diverse skill set. How did your time at Apeejay influence your career choices and professional development?
Apeejay played a pivotal role in shaping my career path. Despite initially aspiring to become an engineer, the insightful guidance and support from my teachers helped me realise my true potential. Encouraged by mentors like Savita Panotra ma’am and Dr. Taruna Narula ma’am, I discovered my passion for mass communication and journalism. Their mentorship instilled in me the confidence to pursue my dreams, ultimately leading me to excel in my chosen field.
You’ve mentioned the influence of specific teachers at Apeejay. Could you elaborate on how their guidance impacted your journey?
Absolutely. Savita Panotra ma’am, with her expertise in English, played a pivotal role in refining my language skills, which have been invaluable in my professional endeavours. Her insights on grammar, sentence construction, and content articulation continue to resonate with me today. Similarly, Dr. Taruna Narula ma’am’s passion for mass communication ignited my interest in the field, shaping my academic pursuits and career trajectory. Their unwavering support and mentorship not only equipped me with essential skills but also instilled in me the resilience to navigate challenges and pursue excellence.
It’s evident that Apeejay’s educators left a lasting impression on you. How did the school’s emphasis on extracurricular activities contribute to your personal and professional growth?
Apeejay fostered a vibrant learning environment that encouraged students to explore their interests beyond academics. Engaging in extracurricular activities, such as stage performances and industry visits, provided me with invaluable opportunities to hone my skills and discover my strengths. For instance, participating in radio presenting at All India Radio, facilitated by Apeejay’s initiatives, not only bolstered my confidence but also laid the foundation for my career in communication. These experiences underscored the school’s commitment to holistic development and nurtured a spirit of innovation and creativity among students.
How did Apeejay’s values and ethos shape your outlook on success and perseverance?
Apeejay instilled in me a profound sense of resilience and determination, teaching me to embrace failure as a stepping stone to success. The school’s ethos of “soaring high” embodies the spirit of perseverance, urging students to strive for excellence and embrace challenges with courage and resilience. This ethos has been instrumental in shaping my professional journey, enabling me to overcome obstacles and pursue my goals with unwavering determination.
Reflecting on your journey, what advice would you offer to current and future students of Apeejay?
My advice to students of Apeejay is simple yet profound—embrace every opportunity for growth, challenge yourself to step outside your comfort zone, and never underestimate the power of perseverance. Your time at Apeejay is not just about academic excellence but also about personal and professional development. Cherish the guidance of your mentors, nurture your passions, and believe in your ability to achieve greatness. Remember, success is not just about reaching the pinnacle but also about the journey of self-discovery and growth along the way.
