Young reporters take centre stage at Apeejay School, Noida

Reporting requires more than presenting information. It calls for careful observation, clear thinking, and the confidence to speak before an audience. Students of Class V at Apeejay School, Noida, explored these skills during the final round of the Inter-house Hindi Competition, Our Young Reporters.

The competition aimed to strengthen communication, observation, presentation, and reporting skills among young learners. It gave the shortlisted students an opportunity to step into the role of reporters and present news before an audience.

Confidence meets careful preparation

Each participant presented a news report on a relevant and age-appropriate topic. The students organised information in a structured manner and delivered it with clarity. Their presentations also reflected attention to pronunciation, voice modulation, and expression.

The young reporters displayed confidence and creativity throughout the final round. Their stage presence and understanding of the reporter’s role added meaning to their presentations. The activity also helped them connect language skills with awareness of events and the ability to communicate ideas effectively.

A detailed assessment

Participants were assessed on content and accuracy, fluency, pronunciation, voice modulation, confidence, presentation skills, expression, and overall impact. Their ability to hold the audience’s attention and communicate information clearly was also an important part of the assessment.

The final round was judged by Ms Smita Abrol, mother of Saanvi Abrol of Class VI E, and Ms Priya Pilania, mother of Saanvi Pilania of Class III A. Their careful assessment helped ensure a fair and enriching experience for all participants.

Recognising the winners

Arshi Gupta of Class V C, representing RK House, secured the first position. Enaya Goel of Class V E, also from RK House, stood second. Gauri Sachan of Class V D, representing Nehru House, secured the third position.

The competition concluded with appreciation for every participant’s sincere effort and enthusiastic performance. More importantly, it showed students that effective reporting depends on accuracy, organisation, and confident delivery.
