Learning about plants became more engaging for Class I students of Apeejay School, Saket, when they stepped outside the classroom for an educational visit to the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art in Saket. The visit was organised as part of their monthly theme, Plants-Our Green Friends, and gave the young learners an opportunity to connect what they had been learning with art and the world around them.
Discovering nature through art
At the museum, the children observed artworks inspired by nature, including trees, flowers and landscapes. The colours, forms and creative expressions caught their attention and encouraged them to look at plants from a different perspective.
As they explored the artworks, the students also reflected on the many ways in which plants are part of everyday life. They learned that plants provide air, shade and food, while also adding beauty and happiness to the spaces around us.
For the young learners, the experience turned a familiar classroom theme into something they could see and relate to. Their curiosity and excitement added to the experience as they moved through the museum and observed how nature could become a source of artistic expression.

A meaningful learning experience
The educational visit also helped the children develop a deeper appreciation for art. Looking carefully at different artworks encouraged them to observe details and respond to what they saw.
At the same time, the visit strengthened their connection with nature. It brought together art appreciation, observation and environmental awareness in a way that was simple and meaningful for Class I learners.
By taking learning beyond textbooks, the visit helped the children understand their monthly theme through direct observation and creative expression. It also encouraged them to recognise plants not only as an important part of nature, but as green friends that support and enrich everyday life.
