Recently, Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar, hosted an engaging team-building session led by Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar Chandel. Titled Synergy Creates Energy, the session brought faculty and staff together to reflect on the importance of collaboration, self-awareness, and the mindset needed to move from good to great.
Dr Chandel opened the session by highlighting a simple but powerful truth: Growth is stronger when it’s shared. He emphasised that real progress happens when individuals support one another and focus on building interdependence rather than operating in silos. “Holding hands” was more than a phrase in this session; it was a call to action to value every team member and lean into collective strength.
Time for self-reflection
One of the key takeaways was the use of SWOT analysis as a tool for self-reflection. Participants were encouraged to take a close look at their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. It wasn’t about judgement; it was about awareness. This exercise helped everyone better understand their role within the team and where they could grow.
The session moved into practical strategies. Dr Chandel offered simple but meaningful tips to build synergy in school environments. These included open communication, listening without interrupting, setting shared goals, and celebrating team successes.

The 10 C’s of team wisdom
A standout section of the session was the discussion on what Dr Chandel called the ‘10 C’s of Team Wisdom’. Though each ‘C’ stood for a specific value: Commitment, coordination, contribution, and communication. The message was clear: Strong teams don’t happen by chance. They’re built through conscious effort and mutual respect.
One of the most honest moments came when the Principal addressed the role of ego. Letting go of personal pride, he said, is often the first step toward real teamwork. When egos drop, trust rises — and so does the entire team.
The session closed on a high note. Staff left with renewed energy and a shared sense of direction. As one participant summed it up, “Together we grow, together we win.” It was a session that didn’t just teach; it stayed with you.
