Will CBSE Class 12 exam be cancelled?

Due to a surge in coronavirus cases, speculations are rife that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) may postpone the class 12 board exams 2021 till July or even cancel them and follow a similar assessment plan as that of class X. However, a CBSE official said, “These are all speculations; the board has nothing to do with it. CBSE will review the Covid-19 situation in June, and the decision to conduct or postpone the exams will be taken then.” Though, the official didn’t rule out the possibility of cancellation of exams, if the current Covid situation doesn’t get better. “If the exams could not be conducted in July, then we cannot further delay conducting the exam. As the entire exam process takes more than a month including evaluation of copies and result declaration. If suppose the result is declared by the end of August, how will the students take admission in varsities, higher education institutions.” In such a scenario, CBSE class 12 exams will be assessed on the lines of class X, the official said.
