When common sense goes missing, students bring the stage alive
Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri students use humour, drama and English to highlight the importance of logical thinking and everyday awareness.
Recently, Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, witnessed a lively blend of humour, creativity and learning as students of Classes IX and XI presented engaging English skits, on the theme Common Sense Is Missing. The activity transformed the stage into a platform for students to explore everyday situations while showcasing their communication skills, confidence and creativity.
Through witty dialogues, expressive performances and relatable scenarios, the students highlighted the humorous consequences of overlooking simple logic in daily life. Each skit presented familiar situations with a touch of comedy, encouraging the audience to laugh while also reflecting on the importance of awareness, practical thinking and sensible decision-making.
The young performers displayed commendable command of the English language, with clear pronunciation, effective dialogue delivery and confident stage presence. Their expressive gestures, coordinated movements and well-timed performances added energy to every scene. The activity also reflected the students’ ability to work collaboratively, develop creative ideas and communicate meaningful messages effectively.
Beyond entertainment, the skits offered valuable learning experiences. Theatre enabled students to apply their language skills in an engaging and practical setting, moving beyond conventional classroom learning. The activity encouraged experiential learning and supported the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, creativity and confidence; skills that are central to holistic education and aligned with the vision of NEP 2020.
The audience responded enthusiastically to the performances, appreciating the students’ humour, confidence and thoughtful presentation. The skits successfully conveyed that common sense is not merely about knowing facts but also about observing situations, thinking logically and making responsible choices.
The school Principal, Dr Vineet Vasishtha, appreciated the students for their sincere efforts, creativity and confident performances. “I congratulate the students of Classes IX and XI for their impressive English skits. Their confident performances, expressive dialogue delivery and creative presentation demonstrated excellent communication and teamwork. The activity successfully blended humour with a meaningful message about awareness, logic and responsible decision-making. Such experiential opportunities enrich classroom learning and nurture creativity, confidence and critical thinking. I appreciate the efforts of the teachers and students and encourage them to continue participating enthusiastically in such enriching activities,” Dr Vashistha shares.
The event concluded on an upbeat note, leaving the audience entertained and inspired. The English skits demonstrated how theatre can make language learning enjoyable and meaningful while encouraging students to think, express themselves and connect classroom concepts with real-life experiences. Through humour and thoughtful storytelling, the young performers effectively reminded everyone that sometimes the simplest situations require nothing more than a little common sense.
