We should aggressively work on opening schools: AIIMS Chief

Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) suggested “aggressively working” for the opening of schools that have been shut for more than a year owing to Covid-19. He said schools provide essential learning and help in the “development of children’s character”. The AIIMS chief said the younger generation is getting affected “in terms of knowledge” and especially those with limited access to technology. Meanwhile, Maharashtra and Telangana have geared up for partial reopening of schools. Telangana’s schools will resume offline classes from July 1, while Maharashtra is exploring the possibility of reopening schools and colleges for students of Classes 10 and 12 in villages that have no Covid-19 cases.
