‘Voyage of a paper boat’: Poem by Sadhya Hota, Apeejay School, Kharghar

Fold a paper into a boat,
And run away to set it afloat.
Put it on the running river,
And watch it gently, slowly shiver.

Then sail it away to its fate,
Watch it sail away with rate.
Then you must go indoor,
For you can’t follow it anymore.

Let me tell you where it went,
After you let it set.
It passed through many distant lands,
And the river’s many banks.

It sailed and sailed upon the river,
Till it became thicker and thicker.
At last it entered the scary sea,
And got eaten up by an eel.

That was the end of the paper boat,
Because it crushed like an oat.
This was the voyage of the paper boat,
Right from the day you set it afloat.
