Vivekotsav- An event to celebrate birthday of spiritual guru

In an insightful and informative event comprising dance and music, the students of Apeejay School, Nerul, learned the key events and ideas from Swami Vivekananda’s life and teachings

To commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Apeejay School, Nerul, recently celebrated ‘Vivekotsav’ in a special assembly, wherein students of classes 6, 7 and 8 participated with immense zeal and enthusiasm.

The programme was graced by Mr. Rakesh Joshi, Regional Director- Academics; Mrs. Preety Gupta, Vice Principal;  Mrs. Shakuntala Singh, Academic Coordinator; Mrs. Mrinalini Singh, Pre-Primary Coordinator; Mrs. K.C Vijayalakshmi, Primary Coordinator, other faculty members.

The event commenced with the blessings of the Goddess of wisdom and knowledge, Maa Saraswati. The mesmerising prayer was followed by elocution where a few excerpts from Swami Vivekananda’s revolutionary speech at the world’s Parliament of Religions were presented before the gathering.

Further, the enthusiastic students of class 6 performed a skit, which highlighted the key events and ideas from Swami Vivekananda’s life and teachings, and how they continue to inspire and influence individuals even today.

Another highlight was the special dance performance of students on a Bengali song- Aaguner Poroshmoni. Further, a quiz competition was also organised on Swami Vivekananda. It was indeed very informative round that tested the students’ general knowledge on Swami Vivekananda.

While addressing the students, Mr. Joshi said, “The teachings of Swami Vivekananda inspire us to strive for inner awakening and leading a meaningful life. All of us, must read his life and works and follow a few things to make our lives beautiful.” The event concluded with a better understanding of the key values highlighted in Swami Vivekananda’s exemplary life which could help make this world a better place for everyone.
