A nation that is clean produces citizens that aspire for greatness and a mind that is clean produces an individual who aspires for excellence. Perhaps, this is why it’s said that cleanliness is next to godliness. Cleanliness, therefore, must be practiced at all levels, from keeping the nation clean to ensuring good personal hygiene.

In sync with the aforementioned thought, Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri recently organised a two-week long cleanliness drive (Swacchata Pakhwada) within the school campus.  The main purpose of this drive was to create an awareness among the students regarding the importance of cleanliness through various activities.

Students across classes nursery to 12 actively and enthusiastically contributed towards ensuring a clean school campus during the drive. They actively collected all waste material from playgrounds and classrooms as well as took an oath to practice cleanliness throughout their lives.

Informative and thought provoking lectures were delivered to the students. They realised through the lectures how cleanliness also gives rise to a good character by keeping the body, mind, and soul peaceful. Special assemblies were also organised to help students embody cleanliness in their daily routine.

Mr. Rudrendra Basak, Principal of the school, appreciated the fruitful efforts of the students and the teachers. Through his address, he urged all students to come together to maintain a ‘Swachha Bharat’. He said, “I am happy to see that our students actively participated in the cleanliness drive and made the “Swachhata Pakhwada” a grand success. They all realised the importance of cleanliness and also understood why cleanliness is next to godliness.”
