The University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched a new initiative called NEP SAARTHI, aimed at promoting and implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. As part of this initiative, nearly 300 students at the higher education level will be selected as ambassadors. The UGC is inviting nominations from institutes to recommend three students each, based on their communication skills, leadership qualities, and dedication.

To participate in NEP SAARTHI, students can be enrolled in any course within the participating institutes. The Vice Chancellors, Principals, and Directors of Higher Education Institutes (HEI) will recommend suitable candidates for the position. HEIs are required to submit their nominations, along with a brief write-up justifying their choices, to Manju Singh, joint secretary of NEP at the UGC. The deadline for submitting nominations is June 6, 2023.

The UGC has also provided guidelines outlining the roles, responsibilities, and eligibility criteria for the selected students to fulfill their duties as NEP ambassadors. Students will be awarded a certificate of recognition for their participation and will get the opportunity to publish an article in the UGC newsletter, among other things.
